This is a per diem, part-time position requiring 15 hours per week. Shifts are flexible during the workweek, Monday through Friday only, with no weekend work. The salary range for this position starts at $20.84 per hour.

About the Role

The Peer Counselor works with peers to provide support through education, resources, and community integration, promoting the recovery process. This position requires direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Works with multidisciplinary staff to assist individuals with vocational, social, and life skills on-site and in the community.
  • Meets one-on-one with members to provide support around their mental health recovery process while setting appropriate limits and professional boundaries.
  • Receives weekly one-on-one supervision from program supervisory staff to provide guidance and support.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings to provide updates, set goals, and outline action plans for team members.
  • Individually leads or facilitates groups to provide support and guidance to members.
  • Uses personal recovery experience as a framework to understand and support members in their own recovery journey, maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Completes required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Inspires hope by modeling personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and wellness.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding members’ personal history.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) certification required.
  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License preferred.
  • 0-1 year of related experience required.

Qualifications

  • History of managing personal illness and ability to proactively use that experience to support others in their recovery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including rapport-building and active listening.
  • Knowledge of resilience, recovery, and wellness from behavioral health conditions.
  • Self-awareness and ability to receive feedback to enhance learning and recovery.
  • Ability to set appropriate personal and professional boundaries.

Pay

The salary range for this position starts at $20.84 per hour, with potential to earn up to $29.79 per hour based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
