Peer Advocate
About the role
RiseWell Community Services is seeking a Part Time Peer Advocate to join the outreach team. In this role, you will be responsible for representing RiseWell Community Services with interfacing agencies at meetings and events. Advocate for the needs of people in recovery from mental illness within the mental health system. Provide peer support, advocacy, education, and information to staff, volunteers, and program members. Facilitate peer support groups at designated hospitals and agency programs.
Responsibilities
- Represent RiseWell Community Services with interfacing agencies at meetings and events.
- Advocate for the needs of people in recovery from mental illness within the mental health system.
- Provide peer support, advocacy, education, and information to staff, volunteers, and program members.
- Facilitate peer support groups at designated hospitals and agency programs.
Qualifications
- Individual must be in recovery from a behavioral health condition.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean valid NYS driver’s license.
- Peer Certification preferred.
- Fingerprinting, criminal record check, and all necessary clearances from the Justice Center.
- Meet all health screening requirements set forth by partner hospital regulations.
