Responsibilities
- Provides highest quality evidenced based pediatric medical care to SEARHC patients; including diagnosis, treatment, performance of minor procedures, referral and coordination of care, preventative care, and individualized health maintenance.
- Places the patient and family at the center of care, utilizing strong listening and communication skills, patient education, encouragement, and motivational techniques to build successful ongoing patient care relationships.
- Provides clinical pediatric consultation throughout the health system when needed. Services may be provided face-to-face or through virtual formats. Periodic travel may be required to outlying areas.
- Provides guidance to non-physician providers and when necessary provides supervision and practice plan oversight.
- Actively leads and manages a full panel of patients in coordination with the integrated care team.
- Dates all patient services in the medical record per SEARHC medical staff rules and regulations.
- Participates in SEARHC quality and performance improvement programs and maintains active medical staff membership.
- Provides medical education and teaching to visiting medical students and resident physicians where applicable. Participates in ongoing medical education to maintain licensure and board certification.
Qualifications
- Two years of inpatient pediatrics experience required. Four years preferred.
- MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics.
- Unrestricted DEA.
- BLS, PALS, NRP.
- Preferred: STABLE.
