About the role
Kay 4 supports patients with hematology disorders or leukemia and lymphoma disease at St. Jude. Be part of caring for patients in the most current protocol enrollments that will revolutionize treatment for hematology and leukemia/lymphoma disease. Kay 4 is a 17-bed unit that offers small nurse-to-patient ratios. This is a night shift position seeking nurses with at least one year of experience, consisting of 3×12-hour shifts with rotating holiday and weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to pediatric hematology/oncology patients on a 17-bed unit.
- Perform intermediate pediatric assessments, critical thinking, and pain assessments.
- Apply strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient-education skills.
- Deliver care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served.
- Assess and interpret age-specific data about patient status.
- Work within research protocols and collaborate in a bench-to-bedside environment.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN required).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Minimum of 18 months of clinical nursing experience.
- St. Jude or other RN experience required.
- Experience in pediatric or oncology nursing.
- Working knowledge of research protocols.
- Current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a non-Compact state; Compact state residents must hold a license in their state of primary residence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON).
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 – $55.00 per hour for this role.
