Pediatric Occupational Therapist (Center Based)

About the role

Autism Care Partners (ACP) is seeking an Occupational Therapist to address the functional needs of children and families related to adaptive development, adaptive behavior, play, and sensory, motor, and postural development. The goal is to improve clients’ ability to perform tasks in home, school, and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate clients to establish a plan of care and conduct annual reevaluations.
• Develop long-term goals and objectives as part of the plan of care for all clients, updating at the end of each authorization period.
• Administer evidence-based therapy approaches and implement client-centered treatment sessions.
• Complete daily progress notes describing treatment, progress observed, and patient response.
• Submit a discharge summary from therapy as needed.
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain communication with the therapy team (Board Certified Behavioral Analysts, Speech Language Pathologists, and Direct-Care Staff), parents/guardians, and the billing department.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
• Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Licensed and currently registered to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of MA.
• Experience working with children aged 2-21 years old.
• Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children.
• Ability to practice in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
• Flexibility and adaptability in providing services and scheduling.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Physical ability to adapt to clients’ movements and play, including lifting children (20-50 pounds) when necessary.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Windows.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to frequently assume and maintain postures such as kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, and standing while attending to active children.
• Willingness and ability to utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan.
