About the role
The Pediatric Nursing Department Manager position at St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking an innovative leader to oversee the department's daily operations and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the department.
- Maintain and evaluate the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Hold staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.
- Achieve internal and external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
- Manage equipment maintenance and the admissions and discharge process.
- Facilitate effective care coordination within and across departments.
- Manage nursing practice and unit operations.
- Provide leadership to attain and sustain an excellent patient experience.
- Review feedback mechanisms to identify areas of improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Support a patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when needed.
- Inspire commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Identify development opportunities or training needs of employees and teams.
- Attract, develop, engage, and retain talent to meet business needs.
- Resolve or channel employee grievances, disputes, or concerns.
- Participate in company-supported community and patient events and in-services.
- Manage staff scheduling in accordance with productivity guidelines.
- Manage operating expenses, identify cost reduction opportunities, and implement actions to achieve savings.
Requirements
- 1+ years experience in a healthcare setting.
- 1+ years experience in a leadership role (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required).
- Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse or active Compact license in the state of Texas (required).
- Basic Life Support certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 90 days of hire (preferred).
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) (preferred).
Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare setting (1+ years required).
- Leadership experience (1+ years preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required).
- Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse or active Compact license in the state of Texas (required).
- Basic Life Support certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 90 days of hire (required).
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) (preferred).
