Pediatric Nursing Manager

About the role

The Pediatric Nursing Department Manager position at St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking an innovative leader to oversee the department's daily operations and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the department.
• Maintain and evaluate the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Hold staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.
• Achieve internal and external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
• Manage equipment maintenance and the admissions and discharge process.
• Facilitate effective care coordination within and across departments.
• Manage nursing practice and unit operations.
• Provide leadership to attain and sustain an excellent patient experience.
• Review feedback mechanisms to identify areas of improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Support a patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when needed.
• Inspire commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Identify development opportunities or training needs of employees and teams.
• Attract, develop, engage, and retain talent to meet business needs.
• Resolve or channel employee grievances, disputes, or concerns.
• Participate in company-supported community and patient events and in-services.
• Manage staff scheduling in accordance with productivity guidelines.
• Manage operating expenses, identify cost reduction opportunities, and implement actions to achieve savings.

Requirements

• 1+ years experience in a healthcare setting.
• 1+ years experience in a leadership role (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required).
• Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse or active Compact license in the state of Texas (required).
• Basic Life Support certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 90 days of hire (preferred).
• Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) (preferred).

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting (1+ years required).
• Leadership experience (1+ years preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required).
• Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse or active Compact license in the state of Texas (required).
• Basic Life Support certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 90 days of hire (required).
