Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
About the role
The School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) at David Raines Community Health Centers provides comprehensive primary care, acute illness treatment, chronic condition management and screenings to students in a school setting. The PNP plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to children in the Shreveport/Bossier area.
Responsibilities
- Perform well-child exams and sports physicals.
- Administer vaccinations and other preventive healthcare measures.
- Collaborate with pediatrician and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
- Monitor and manage patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and manage chronic conditions.
- Screen, evaluate and provide referrals regarding health issues.
- Adhere to the standards of medical practice.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding nutrition and wellness.
- Coordinate care with school administration and patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records via electronic health records.
Requirements
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing with concentration in Nurse Practitioner required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records required, preferably Next Gen or similar EHS.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must be available to work after hours and weekends as required by management.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner to practice in the State of Louisiana.
- Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP – Peds).
- Current BLS (American Heart Association).
- Active DEA licensure.

Pay
The position is a full-time (40) hours per week/ non-exempt position during the SBHC calendar school year as established and approved by the governing school board.
Schedule
Work schedules are generally Monday thru Friday, based on clinical operations and during the approved SBHC calendar year (August - May). Work schedules are not a contract of employment and may change at the needs of the DRCHC.
