About the role
The inpatient pediatric unit accommodates 8-10 pediatric patients with various medical conditions and post-surgical care. One of only a few integrated neonatal intensive care units in the nation, this unit provides care to infants 28+ weeks gestation and operates a NICU transport team.
Responsibilities
- Manages day-to-day operations and upholds clinical practice standards.
- Provides positive leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ensures continuous quality improvement, patient satisfaction, budgeting, customer and staff feedback, training and development.
- Works cooperatively with other departments and external organizations.
- Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Communicates and works with others in an age-appropriate manner.
- Develops, implements, and monitors a Quality Improvement Plan.
- Responds to customer complaints and follows up on incident reports.
- Documents and takes action on potentially compensable events and unsafe conditions.
- Manages change by educating team members and facilitating team discussions.
- Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and bachelor’s degree.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Iowa RN license.
- At least two (2) years of relevant clinical nursing experience.
- Relevant supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within three (3) months of hire.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter for both Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training within six (6) months of hire.
- Specialty practice certification preferred.
