Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat pediatric neurological conditions, including epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, developmental delays, and neurogenetic disorders.
- Conduct thorough neurological exams, utilizing various diagnostic techniques such as EEG, MRI, and genetic testing as appropriate.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including pediatricians, neurologists, and rehabilitation specialists, to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Provide clear, empathetic communication with patients and families to discuss diagnoses, treatment options, and ongoing care.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease management and care at home.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of patient evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure documentation meets compliance standards.
- Participate in regular multidisciplinary case conferences to discuss complex cases and coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
- Completed residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric neurology.
- Licensure and Certification: Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Neurology, active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Louisiana, BLS and PALS certifications preferred.
- Experience: Experience in pediatric neurology with a strong understanding of a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions, experience with advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities such as EEG, MRI, and genetic testing.
- Skills and Competencies: Strong diagnostic skills and experience managing complex neurological cases, excellent communication skills with a strong ability to educate and empathize with pediatric patients and their families, proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems, with Epic experience preferred, research experience in pediatric neurology is a plus, along with a commitment to staying current on evidence-based practices.
