Pediatric ID/ASP Clinical Pharmacy Specialist
Job Description Summary
The Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship will lead efforts to optimize antibiotic use in children by guiding evidence-based prescribing, monitoring resistance trends, developing treatment protocols, providing necessary education and collaborating with clinicians to improve patient outcomes while reducing unnecessary antimicrobial exposure. The specialist will function as part of the MUSC Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacy team and will participate in stewardship staffing and cross-coverage as deemed necessary. They will also play an integral role in the MUSC Health ID PGY2 residency program.

This position is located at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC.
Responsibilities
- Guiding evidence-based prescribing and antimicrobial stewardship practices
- Monitoring resistance trends and developing treatment protocols
- Providing necessary education to clinicians and patients
- Collaborating with clinicians to improve patient outcomes
- Reducing unnecessary antimicrobial exposure
- Participating in stewardship staffing and cross-coverage as needed
- Playing an integral role in the MUSC Health ID PGY2 residency program
Requirements
- PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited institution
- Current pharmacist license in South Carolina
- Experience in antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Qualifications
- Knowledge of pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics
- Understanding of clinical pharmacology
- Experience with antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
