Pediatric Hospitalist

About the role

Pediatric Hospitalist position at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake Hospital. Hospitalists cover the pediatric inpatient floor and oversee PNPs who round in the newborn nursery. The hospital is a 532‑bed full‑service acute care facility with a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, dedicated pediatric emergency center, and the exclusive heart hospital south of the Texas Medical Center. It is located in Clear Lake City, a master‑planned community near NASA's Johnson Space Center, offering marinas, boating, fishing, and attractions such as the Kemah Boardwalk.

Responsibilities

• Cover the pediatric inpatient floor.
• Oversee PNPs who round in the newborn nursery.
• Accept direct admissions from community pediatricians.
• Manage the newborn nursery (average 4,000 deliveries/year, average daily census 20 newborns, covered daily by 2 PNPs).
• No delivery attendance; no circumcisions.
• Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists (cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, general surgery, neurosurgery).
• Work with the pediatric emergency room.

• BC/BE Pediatrician.

Schedule

15‑16 shifts per month; in‑house hours 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; overnight home call for the Pediatric Unit + Nursery 2 weeks per month; no in‑house call.
