About the role
This position provides medical nutrition therapy to patients and their families, along with consultation to the interdisciplinary care team on service. Provision of medical nutrition therapy is according to standards of practice, policies and procedures. It includes, but is not limited to, nutritional assessment, diet calculation, coordination of nutritional services with the patient care team, patient food services, and community agencies, participation in case conferences, and continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- COORDINATE THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY
- PROVIDE NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING AND EDUCATION TO PATIENTS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS
- PARTICIPATES IN ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
- PROVIDE & PRECEPT EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE TO INTERNS AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL STAFF
- PROMOTE NUTRITION WITHIN THE MEDICAL CENTER AND THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- License and/or certification if required of the position
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
- Specialty Certification in area of practice preferred
- Knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy principles, including enteral and parenteral nutrition support
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively use electronic medical record to gather pertinent information for nutrition assessments
- Demonstrates understanding of Nutrition Care Process and ADIME charting techniques
- Demonstrates current knowledge of specialty area
