Outpatient Pediatric Dietitian (DIETITIAN 2 or DIETITIAN SR)
About the role
This position provides medical nutrition therapy to patients and their families, along with consultation to the interdisciplinary care team on service. Provision of medical nutrition therapy is according to standards of practice, policies and procedures. It includes, but is not limited to, nutritional assessment, diet calculation, coordination of nutritional services with the patient care team, patient food services, and community agencies, participation in case conferences, and continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- COORDINATE THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY
- PROVIDE NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING AND EDUCATION TO PATIENTS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS
- PARTICIPATES IN ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
- PROVIDE & PRECEPT EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE TO INTERNS AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL STAFF
- PROMOTE NUTRITION WITHIN THE MEDICAL CENTER AND THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY
Requirements
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- License and/or certification if required of the position
- Minimum Qualifications: Strong academic background and applied background in clinical nutrition; Experience with using computers for daily tasks and communications; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to understand and be understood in English
Qualifications
- Advanced degree, masters or higher (for SR Dietitian)
- Certification in area of specialty practice (for SR Dietitian)
- Completion and approval of SR Dietitian portfolio while employed by UC Davis Health (for SR Dietitian)
- Experience using electronic medical record to gather pertinent information for nutrition assessments (for SR Dietitian)
- Understanding of Nutrition Care Process and ADIME charting techniques (for SR Dietitian)
- Current knowledge of specialty area (for SR Dietitian)
Skills
- Specialty Certification in area of practice preferred (e.g., but not limited to, CNSC, CSO, CDCES, CSR, CSG, CSP, CSPCC, CSOWM, CSSD, RDN-AP/RD-AP, etc.)
- California Children’s Services (CCS) Dietitian Paneling designation (or eligible to obtain within one year) is strongly preferred (for Pediatric positions/assignments)
- Experience using electronic medical record (for all levels)
- Experience teaching and supervising dietetic interns or other students (for all levels)
