Pediatric Clinical Geneticists

About the role

Pediatric Clinical Geneticists diagnose and treat genetic disorders in pediatric patients. They interpret genetic testing results and design personalized treatment plans. They also develop a plan of care for each patient, including a complete medical history, physician examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral. They confer with consulting physicians, nurses, patients, and patients' families concerning treatment and care of patients.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat genetic disorders in pediatric patients.
• Interpret genetic testing results and design personalized treatment plans.
• Develop a plan of care for each patient, including a complete medical history, physician examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral.
• Confer with consulting physicians, nurses, patients, and patients' families concerning treatment and care of patients.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana.
• Completion of a medical genetics residency.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. degree.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
• Knowledge of pediatric genetics and related medical specialties.
