Pediatric Clinical Geneticists
About the role
Pediatric Clinical Geneticists diagnose and treat genetic disorders in pediatric patients. They interpret genetic testing results and design personalized treatment plans. They also develop a plan of care for each patient, including a complete medical history, physician examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral. They confer with consulting physicians, nurses, patients, and patients' families concerning treatment and care of patients.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat genetic disorders in pediatric patients.
- Interpret genetic testing results and design personalized treatment plans.
- Develop a plan of care for each patient, including a complete medical history, physician examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral.
- Confer with consulting physicians, nurses, patients, and patients' families concerning treatment and care of patients.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana.
- Completion of a medical genetics residency.
Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of pediatric genetics and related medical specialties.
