Pediatric Clinical Geneticist, F30680 - SOM - Pediatrics

Position Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Contribute to the clinical supervision and education of residents, medical students, genetic counseling graduate students, and ancillary staff. Conduct didactic teaching in MS Genetic Counseling Program and VCU School of Medicine.
  • Research: Engage in scholarship through presentations at national meetings, contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature, and active participation in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Service: Participate in regional and national conferences with clinical colleagues. Engage in departmental, institutional, and national committees, when appropriate.
  • Clinical: Actively participate as a clinician in various clinics and other settings, including telemedicine, and share call and consultative responsibilities with other Clinical Genetics physicians. Provide care across the lifespan, from preconception to end of life, in both pediatric and adult patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Clinical and teaching skills, including teaching and training of graduate and medical students.
  • MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree with Board eligibility/certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).
  • Qualified for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AMBGG certification in Clinical Biochemical Genetics.
  • Experience and interest in research and scholarly activity, as evidenced by publication in professional journals and presentations at national meetings.
