Position Highlights

  • Join a team including 35 fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologists and a growing team of medically directed Anesthesiology Assistants and Certified Registered Nursing Assistants.
  • Engage in a busy practice that includes both OR as well as non-OR sites at CW's Milwaukee Campus.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to perioperative team members to optimize patient care safety, quality, and efficiency of the perioperative setting.
  • Collaborate with world-class pediatric surgeons and medical staff with a range of complex cases.
  • Contribute to the clinical education of pediatric fellows, residents, medical students and other trainees.
  • Focus on a patient-centered approach to delivery of care and engage in a climate of inquiry and safety.
  • Participate in the academic, research and educational missions of the institution.
  • Build positive relationships with surgeons, proceduralists, nurses, technicians and other stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Chair or Chair-Designate.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
  • State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful finalist.

Department/Division Highlights

The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Anesthesiology was formed in 1965. Since its inception the department has experienced robust clinical, scientific, and academic growth; and has been consistently recognized on regional, national and international levels for leadership and innovation. The Department of Anesthesiology has a team of 140 Anesthesiologists, 46 Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants, 65 Certified Registered Nursing Anesthetists, 21 Advanced Practice Professionals, and 86 Residents and Fellows. We provide more than 63,000 anesthetics annually, in more than 100 anesthetizing locations our operating rooms and out-of-operating room locations in our five hospitals and four surgery centers. Our well-established research division utilizes both clinical and preclinical research approaches to generate critical new knowledge and advance anesthesia care delivery.

Children's Wisconsin and Children's Specialty Group

Children's Wisconsin is an independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. The hospital, with locations in Milwaukee and Northeast Wisconsin, is recognized as one of the leading pediatric health care centers in the United States. Children's Wisconsin provides primary care, urgent care, emergency care, specialty care, mental and behavioral health services, community health services, foster and adoption services, child advocacy services and health insurance plans. Each year, the Children's Wisconsin team has more than 6.5 million touchpoints with kids and families through medical care, advocacy, research and education. In Northeast Wisconsin, Children's Wisconsin is expanding its services to provide increased access to outstanding pediatric subspecialty care. Children's and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin – the Children's Specialty Group (CSG) - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Children's Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, 72-bed Level IV NICU, Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU. In 2021-2022, CW and CSG had six specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; and pulmonology. With over 70 specialties and 675 providers, CSG providers had 220,000 outpatient visits at 13 regional care sites, 67,000 emergency department/trauma center visits, and over 9,000 admissions.
