About Humankind

Humankind is a leading organization in the Netherlands focused on child development. What began in 1983 as childcare now encompasses much more. With around 2,900 employees, Humankind applies pedagogical expertise with heart, mind, and hands to support the optimal growth and flourishing of every child. Humankind is small, close, warm, and tender, yet also grand and ambitious, contributing to a better society. Every child who grows into a resilient adult makes our world more beautiful.

About the role

We invite you to apply only if you meet the required profile. If you’ve always wanted to work at an after-school care (BSO) but don’t yet have the right diploma, no problem! Through our Humankind Academie, you can start a paid retraining program that combines work and learning. You’ll receive a salary immediately and complete the training in a few months to about a year, depending on your learning path. Afterward, you’ll be a qualified pedagogical professional at the BSO, ready to provide children with a fun and educational time outside school hours.

Who you are

  • You have at least an MBO-3 or HAVO diploma.
  • You have a big heart for children and want to stimulate their development.
  • You are enthusiastic, friendly, and easy to get along with—with children, parents, and colleagues.

If your diploma no longer qualifies for childcare or if you want to retrain, Humankind offers a suitable retraining path. Which learning route fits you?

  • Learning Route 1: For diplomas such as social work, activity leader, or social care. You can work in daycare (KDV) and after-school care (BSO).
  • Learning Route 2: For diplomas such as technical education assistant or art education. You can work in after-school care (BSO).
  • Learning Route 3: EVC (Experience-Based Competency) trajectory for those with work experience in care, human-centered, or creative professions.

What we offer

  • Meaningful work at a socially responsible childcare provider that values quality, reliability, resilience, and resourcefulness.
  • Flexible contract hours, up to a maximum per week, either permanent or flexible—whatever suits you.
  • A competitive salary according to the new CAO Kinderopvang scale 5 (gross between €2,555 and €3,425 per month based on a 36-hour workweek).
  • Ample development opportunities, both professionally and personally, through (online) training and programs to discover and develop your talents. This includes knowledge circles and a national study day.
  • A thorough and enjoyable onboarding program, including a warm welcome day for new colleagues.
  • An end-of-year bonus (8%) and a generous travel allowance.
  • Discounts on various outings and products via wegnahetwerk.
  • Access to your own JijTelt-shop, where you can choose from a variety of useful or lovely treats with your points.
  • The best colleagues!
