Pedagogical Director - Elementary / Adolescent

Fiore Montessori School is seeking an experienced AMI Elementary / Adolescent Guide to join our dedicated faculty and staff as a Pedagogical Director, leading our Elementary and Adolescent Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage guides in the Elementary and/or Adolescent classrooms, ensuring delivery of a high-fidelity AMI Program to families, children, and the school community.
  • Support guides in their classroom responsibilities, including:
    • Managing and normalizing classroom communities.
    • Maintaining thorough knowledge of students, offering strategic oversight, and making recommendations related to their progress and parent relationships.
    • Providing feedback and guidance to ensure beautiful, well-maintained, and effective environments.
    • Reviewing lesson plans, lessons given, conference reports, parent presentations, and written communication.
    • Maintaining and/or overseeing classroom budgets and inventory, including ordering materials and supplies.
    • Reviewing new student applications and making admissions recommendations.
    • Preparing student transcripts.
  • Manage and develop guides and assistants by:
    • Mentoring elementary and adolescent teams, individual guides, assistants, and specialists.
    • Assisting with hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.
    • Observing environments, faculty, and staff in their roles.
  • Assist guides in parent relationships by:
    • Educating parents and answering questions about the programs.
    • Preparing for conferences, providing feedback, and reviewing written reports.
    • Reviewing written recommendation forms from guides.
    • Serving as a parent resource, providing education and support.
  • Collaborate with Pedagogical Directors of other program levels and administration on strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage after-school and summer programs.
  • Substitute for long-term absences of guides when applicable.
  • Coordinate staffing, events, logistics, and schedules for the levels with operations and business office teams.

Requirements

  • AMI training at the Elementary and/or Adolescent level.
  • Dedication to the AMI philosophy.
  • 5–10 years of experience running an Elementary and/or Adolescent classroom.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a team of guides and assistants.
  • Long-term commitment to the school.

About the School

Fiore Montessori School is a fully AMI-accredited school with two campuses, each spanning 4.5 rural acres, located 20 miles outside Washington, DC. Our communities serve children from three months to fifteen years old, including:

  • Nido (Infant Community)
  • Toddler
  • Primary Children’s House
  • Elementary (6-year span)
  • Adolescent (Junior High, 3-year span)
