About the role

The Medtech Innovation Fellow will be placed in a medtech-focused environment connected to The Pearl ecosystem, with exposure to medical technology, diagnostics, imaging, devices, biomedical tools, or other technologies used to improve health and patient care. This placement is ideal for someone interested in engineering, healthcare technology, clinical innovation, or the future of technical careers in health.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties including patient and family visits, delivery of support services, studies, investigations, research projects, and other assignments.
  • Provides administrative coverage of the office such as answering phone and maintaining computer data.
  • Types documents such as letters and creates spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Aids in research projects, data analysis, and/or creating various reports.
  • Aids in entering data and filing.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with all levels within the System and with the public.

Requirements

  • High School, Undergraduate, Master's or Postgraduate enrollment required.
  • Excellent planning, prioritizing, oral/written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and team skills required.
  • Computer skills required.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in med tech, healthcare innovation, engineering, or clinical tools.
  • Problem-solving mindset and curiosity about how tech is used in healthcare.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts, and ask thoughtful questions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; attention to detail when supporting tasks, demonstrations, documentation or partner projects.

Skills

  • Experience with robotics, engineering, 3D printing, prototyping, electronics, or makerspace tools.
  • Familiarity with diagnostics, imaging, biomedical equipment, rehab technology, or sport medicine.
  • Interest in biomedical engineering, health tech, or technical career pathways.

Pay

$18.85 - $28.30 per hour based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training.

Schedule

Flexible based on student schedule - 15 hours a week maximum (fully grant funded position), M-F during regular business operating hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Schedules may vary by placement and will be coordinated based on department needs, partner availability, and the fellow's class schedule.
