Innovation Engineer Intern
About the role
This role is part of the Product Development/Innovation team at LIGNETICS GROUP. You will help explore new technologies and new markets for sustainable, renewable raw materials like wood residuals. The work is cross-functional and contributes to a portfolio of new business opportunities, particularly focusing on consumer products.
Responsibilities
- Conduct product tests; perform and Quality Assurance (QA)-related activities.
- Develop new test methods under guidance.
- Analyze data and share results.
- Prepare prototype formulations.
- Support consumer testing programs and data analysis.
- Conduct online research on material and/or vendor options.
Requirements
- Duties and Responsibilities as outlined above.
- Completed or nearing completion of a BA/BS degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physical Science, or a related field.
- Previous internship or part-time experience in a relevant field is preferred.
- A “roll up your sleeves” approach, strong analytical and forward-thinking skills.
- The ability to do simple to complex math calculations.
- Solid scientific method skills for conducting experiments.
- The ability to analyze and communicate data and results.
- An interest or experience in non-technical product development such as marketing and branding.
Education and Skills
- Completed, or nearing completion of, a BA/BS degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physical Science, or a related field.
- Previous internship or part-time experience in a relevant field is preferred.

Pay
$22-$25/hr
Schedule
Minimum 15 hours/week up to a maximum of 40 hours/week, Fall '26 (September-December), with potential to extend into Spring '27.

Qualifications
This candidate must be willing to live in Colorado during the time frame of employment.
