Schedule

Must commit to at least a 4-hour shift per day, with hours available between 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work 20 to 40 hours per week on a set schedule for the fall semester once hired.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages.
• Follow proper kitchen standards when cleaning and sanitizing the work area (floors, food carts, cabinets, tables, kitchen utensils, equipment, dishes, and tableware).
• Prepare, produce, set up, and serve food items including daily specials, standard menu offerings, limited-time offerings, infusion meals, catering meals, and standard menu items.
• Stock and store food service items.
• Receive, rotate, and dispense food commodities using all applicable guidelines.
• Utilize various kitchen utensils, appliances, and heavy/industrial equipment in food preparation.
• Operate a variety of manual and/or automatic kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, dishwashers, mixers, and slicers.
• Promote a safe and healthy workplace by identifying unsafe practices and equipment, and removing refuse as appropriate.
• Use appropriate practices for safe cleaning and ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
• Provide professional and exceptional customer service.
• Adhere to University policies and health department quality and safety standards.
• Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic math skills.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to use kitchen and dish room tools with reasonable proficiency.
• Skilled in the safe, sanitary, and effective handling of food, cooking utensils, food processing equipment, walk-in refrigeration, elevators, cash registers, food digester, dishwashers, and time clock.
• Ability to read and interpret routine written materials, menus, instructions, and emails.
• Ability to handle varying workloads and meet deadlines as necessary.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
