About the role
UAB St. Vincent’s, a part of UAB Medicine, offers a full-time night shift position in the MICU Stepdown department at UAB STV East - Trussville, AL.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
- Ambulate patients as necessary, including assisting them to a recliner, walking to the bathroom, or down the hall.
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
- Report findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Document necessary records.
- Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
- Perform certain technical patient care duties as directed by the staff nurse, such as oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs.
- Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
