PCS/Software Engineer
About the Role
Arconic is seeking a PCS/Software Engineer to join our Process Controls Systems team in Lancaster, PA. This position is responsible for maintaining and developing process control operating systems from both hardware and software perspectives. These systems control the operation of production machinery and are integral to production, quality, and safety.
Arconic Lancaster has been a leader in the aluminum manufacturing industry for over 75 years. Our 1.3 million square-foot plant produces a variety of products, including painted aluminum sheet, blanked aluminum products, and brazing sheet used in automotive and consumer goods.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop process control operating systems (hardware and software)
- Perform system upgrades and patching/security updates as required by Corporate Security
- Design changes to HMI and SCADA products as needed
- Solve quality problems associated with process control systems and develop software to diagnose quality issues
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 1 year of full-stack experience or equivalent project work using programming languages such as C#, C++, VBA, SQL, or similar
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (verification required at hire; no visa sponsorship available)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 3+ years of programming experience in C#, C++, VBA, or SQL
- 1 year maintaining a database system using platforms such as MSAccess, SQL Lite, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
- 1 year of experience with manufacturing shop floor control systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, SCADA)
- Working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, and Windows Operating Systems
- Project management skills
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
