We are looking for a skilled PC Technician to support telecommunications and network infrastructure activities across multiple service locations in Edison, New Jersey. This is a long-term contract position suited for someone comfortable working hands-on with equipment installation, hardware changes, and power-related tasks in technical site environments.
Responsibilities
- Carry out the installation, replacement, upgrade, and removal of telecommunications and related hardware at central office and field locations.
- Support work involving AC and -48V DC power environments, including batteries, rectifiers, fuse panels, grounding systems, and associated cabling.
- Execute equipment activation, power cutovers, and site change activities by following engineering documentation and established technical standards.
- Inspect sites to confirm material availability, verify equipment conditions, and capture accurate records of completed tasks.
- Diagnose hardware, circuit, connectivity, and power issues to minimize service disruption and maintain network performance.
- Review schematics, technical diagrams, and manufacturer instructions to ensure proper installation and maintenance practices.
- Partner with engineering, project leadership, and operational teams to complete assignments within required timelines.
- Maintain detailed daily updates, testing information, and site documentation to support compliance and project tracking.
- Travel regularly between assigned service areas to perform onsite infrastructure and support work.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and applicable industry requirements while working in active telecommunications environments.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in telecommunications, infrastructure support, or a similar hands-on technical role.
- Background working in central offices, carrier facilities, or other telecom equipment environments.
- Practical knowledge of AC and DC power systems, including batteries, rectifiers, grounding, and power distribution components.
- Experience installing, removing, or upgrading network and hardware equipment in operational site settings.
- Familiarity with fiber, coaxial, and copper cabling used in communications or hardware installations.
- Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation accurately.
- Comfortable traveling to multiple work locations as required by project and operational needs.
- Experience with computer hardware, associated hardware components, cable installation, and devices from vendors such as Dell Technologies and Apple is preferred.
