PC Support Specialist - Part Time Weekends

Schedule

Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am–7:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Install/upgrade hardware and software on portables, desktops, computer wall mounts, and computer carts running Windows 10.
  • Diagnose and remedy problems with all types of PCs, peripherals, and applications in accordance with standards.
  • Respond to service calls relayed by the Helpdesk.
  • Perform periodic maintenance on PCs and peripheral devices.
  • Install/upgrade hardware including portables, desktops, computer wall mounts, computer carts, printers, document scanners, and bar code scanners.
  • Maintain high performance to keep departments running efficiently.
  • Implement new hardware without adverse effect on current production systems.
  • Install/upgrade software on Windows 10 systems while minimizing impact on customer systems.
  • Engage in periodic contact with customers for feedback on software performance; troubleshoot and correct deficiencies.
  • Diagnose problems with network connectivity and user applications.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of owned computer equipment and peripherals; validate and update inventory in accordance with standards.
  • Participate in the annual inventory process.
  • Provide Helpdesk coverage during non-business hours or as needed.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or related field (equivalent work experience may be substituted).
  • Minimum three years experience with Windows 7 or 10, including one year of customer service experience.
  • Minimum three years experience with Microsoft Office or Windows applications.
  • 1–3 years of customer service experience (preferred).

Skills

  • Knowledge of network principles to aid in troubleshooting problems.
  • Understanding of user applications to aid in troubleshooting problems.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and peripherals.
  • Understanding of interfaces between applications and their impact on issues.
  • Knowledge of basic network operating system fundamentals.
  • Skill in operation and maintenance of personal computers and peripheral devices.
  • Skill in overhaul of computers and peripheral devices.
  • Skill in diagnosing interoperability of multiple applications on a single platform.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with customers and manage expectations.
  • Ability to keep abreast of emerging technologies and their application to the environment.

Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+ Certification (preferred).
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) (preferred).
  • Employees identified as “high frequency” drivers will be required to undergo a successful motor vehicle record (MVR) check and meet policy requirements.
