PBX Operator - Communications Center

About the role

Responsible for answering all incoming calls into the hospital's main telephone number, physician's answering service, and in-house operator calls. Provides in-person visitor information, reception, and paging. Coordinates all emergency communications, including Trauma Codes, Codes 4, NICU, Codes Red, Codes Blue, Codes Yellow, Codes 900, and Helicopter Landing. Monitors Hospital Alarm Panels, handles all Fire and Disaster Drills, and operates hospital two-way radios.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls to the hospital’s main telephone number, physician’s answering service, and in-house operator lines.
• Provide in-person visitor information, reception, and paging services.
• Coordinate emergency communications (Trauma Codes, Codes 4, NICU, Codes Red, Codes Blue, Codes Yellow, Codes 900, Helicopter Landing).
• Monitor Hospital Alarm Panels.
• Handle Fire and Disaster Drills.
• Operate hospital two-way radios.

Requirements

• Previous switchboard experience in a healthcare setting.
• Answering service experience or experience answering phones at large organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare experience.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $38.82 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
