PB Welder - TDC

Responsibilities

• Fabricate steel structures for mold bracing, in-process platforms, carts, fixtures, etc.
• Accurately measure, cut, fit, bend, and weld steel structures.
• Interpret technical drawings and instructions.
• Perform layout and fabrication operations, ensuring all work is done safely.
• Maintain clean, tidy, and organized work areas and equipment.
• Conduct daily routine maintenance of equipment and store materials/tools safely.
• Use TDC mold fabrication approved processes.
• Ensure continuous improvement and zero recordable safety incidents.
• Maintain adherence to procedures, processes, and schedules to meet key milestones.
• Manage departmental budget for labor and materials.
• Understand and comply with environmental regulations for material handling, usage, labeling, storage, and disposal.
• Support continuous improvement using Safety systems, Kaizen, CAR system, and problem-solving techniques.
• Maintain equipment and workplace organization using the 5S methodology.
• Identify and communicate problems (e.g., material shortages, employee relations) within scope.
• Perform housekeeping duties and promote department cleanliness and tool/workstation organization.

Skills

• Steel fabrication
• Stick, MIG, and TIG welding
• Use of drill press, hand tools, air tools, band saw, plasma cutter, overhead crane, pipe bender, pipe coping, oxygen, and acetylene torches
• Accurate measurement, cutting, fitting, and bending of raw materials
• Plasma cutting and tube bending
• Rigging and heavy part handling
• Forklift and overhead hoist operation
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must pass drug/alcohol screening.
• Must stand and work in/around boats/molds throughout the day, following all safety regulations.

• Lifting/Carrying: Maximum 50 lbs., Frequently 15 lbs., Occasionally 30 lbs.
• Repetitive hand activities: Simple grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation (constant for both hands).
• Repetitive foot activities: Occasional for both feet.
• Frequent bending at waist, squatting, climbing ladders/stairs, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder.

Work Environment

• Exposure to ambient cold/heat temperatures, dusty environment, and airborne particulates from cutting, drilling, and grinding.
• Exposure to sharp tooling for cutting fiberglass.
• Typical 10-hour workday, 4- or 5-day workweek with occasional/frequent overtime.
• Required to work indoors/outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• May work during production shutdowns or off-schedule periods.
• Safety glasses required in production areas; other PPE may be required for specific projects.
