Payroll System Implementation Project Manager
About the role
Using independent judgement, provides professional level support in maintaining the payroll configuration and design across systems (Workday and Ultimate Kronos Group) during the UKG project implementation.
Serves as a subject matter expert in the functional area of payroll and assists with ensuring data integrity, developing system testing plans, testing of system changes, analyzing and auditing data, report writing, system configuration, analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities, and end-user training/change management.
Responsibilities
- Identifies appropriate solutions and develops implementation schedules in close collaboration with EIS.
- Oversight and management of resource work efforts and allocations to achieve project goals.
- Guides project team(s) in resolving problems, concerns, and challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in computer science, accounting, business or related field preferred.
- Preferred: Workday Pro Certification in Payroll, Absence Management, or HCM CPP certification or equivalent advanced payroll compliance experience.
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Process Improvement certification (e.g., Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
- Change Management certification (e.g., Prosci).
Skills
- Deep understanding of FLSA, wage and hour compliance, payroll tax compliance, and other relevant HR/payroll regulations.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to convey technical information to all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment, leading project team members at varying levels within the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple project tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques and tools (such as MS Project).
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in computer science, accounting, business or related field preferred.
