About the role

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for being the main point of contact for team members and department managers/timekeepers. The Supervisor will also directly handle fully processing the bi-weekly payroll cycle whenever the Payroll Manager is unable to do so.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain employee/payroll records.
  • Audit timekeeping records for accuracy and conformance with established standards, posting changes in pay and tax status, processing all aspects of the payroll cycle, balancing taxable wage bases to tax deductions.
  • Process the bi-weekly payroll cycle from time import through to file submission.
  • Perform payroll processing as needed while the manager is on leave.
  • Audit time imported from the time and attendance system.
  • Monitor updates to employee records as they affect payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, collective bargaining unit agreements, federal and state tax requirements, internal payroll policies and procedures, and company policies.
  • Audit and ensure all work performed by the Payroll Rep(s) is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Implement all team member wage garnishments into the system and/or respond to applicable inquiries from courts, child support agencies, creditors, and other payees.
  • Provide job-essential training to new Payroll Reps and mentor current staff as needed.
  • Provide timekeeping training for department managers or designated timekeepers.
  • Handle monthly benefit and dues reporting for Unions per their respective CBA, as well as other payroll deductions for A/P remittance processing and GL's month-end close.
  • Act as a liaison and intermediary for all team member discrepancies when the manager is requested at either the Payroll window or via phone/email.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and County laws and regulations as they relate to payroll functions and report preparation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll functions, preferably in a hotel/casino operation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state multi-state regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication with property payroll staff and other company personnel.
  • Basic understanding of payroll taxes, wage assignment, and other payroll deductions.
  • Previous experience in gaming/hospitality payroll processing preferred.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction and supervision while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets.

Pay

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $46,500 to $60,500 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.
