About the role
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce in California. This position plays a key role in managing end-to-end payroll activities, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting a dependable payroll process for employees across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to guide payroll administration in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Administer payroll for a workforce of roughly 200 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Coordinate employee onboarding, including new hire documentation and system setup
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports while maintaining compliance requirements
- Support field operations by managing mobile devices, phones, and other technology-related needs
- Generate workforce and labor hour reports for management review
- Process wage garnishments, child support deductions, and other payroll-related withholdings
- Handle employment verification inquiries and related documentation requests
- Manage employee leave and disability claim administration
- Assist with benefits audits by validating employee data and supporting compliance efforts
- Prepare and submit workers' compensation documentation and reporting
- Provide documentation and administrative support for audit and compliance-related projects
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of payroll administration experience, including hands-on work with certified payroll and union payroll within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax withholdings, garnishments, employee benefits, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista or similar payroll/accounting platforms is advantageous
- College degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and collaborative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion
- Capable of balancing payroll administration with additional operational and administrative responsibilities in a dynamic environment
