About the role
The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely employee payments while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process U.S. and Canadian payroll accurately and on schedule
- Review payroll information and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality and data security
- Communicate with employees and managers regarding payroll questions
- Complete payroll reconciliations and support payroll balancing activities
- Absorb payroll tax reporting, including W-2s, T4s, Form 941, and related documentation
- Maintain payroll procedures and process documentation
- Support compliance with payroll policies and applicable regulations
- Collaborate with internal departments to provide outstanding customer service
- Contribute to process improvements and special projects as needed
Requirements
- Three or more years of office, accounting, or payroll experience (payroll preferred)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of basic accounting and mathematical concepts
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Customer-focused with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with payroll systems or enterprise software is a plus
