About the role
The Payroll Specialist – APAC is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring compliance with country-specific statutory requirements while supporting a positive employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintains end-to-end payroll workflows to ensure all transactions — including employee job changes, one-time payments, deduction changes, garnishments, compensation changes, new hires, terminations, inter-company transfers, and final payments — are processed accurately and in compliance with country-specific statutory requirements.
- Manages multi-country payroll processing across APAC regions utilizing CloudPay, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery across multiple legal entities.
- Completes payroll reconciliation following a thorough review of payroll input and audit reports, including variance analysis and sign-off documentation.
- Works with payroll vendors and regional tax authorities to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements and ensures payroll taxes are paid and reported to the appropriate jurisdictions in a timely manner.
- Assists with preparing and filing tax reports and gathering payroll data for inclusion in financial statements and audits.
- Captures the year-end process for assigned APAC regions to ensure timely and accurate issuance of end-of-year tax forms.
- Pairs cross-functionally with HR/People, Finance, Legal, and Benefits teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll-impacting changes.
- Responds timely and professionally to employee and stakeholder inquiries.
- Identifies and escalates payroll discrepancies, vendor issues, and compliance risks to the Senior Manager of Global Payroll in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or Business Administration — or equivalent professional payroll experience in lieu of a degree
- 3–5 years of multi-country payroll processing experience, preferably within the APAC region
- Hands-on experience with global payroll platforms; experience with CloudPay and/or PayAsia/Deel a strong plus
- Familiarity with APAC statutory compliance requirements across countries such as Australia, India, Korea, Japan, or Philippines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS/payroll reporting tools
- Willing to work in Flexible Hours (2 hours APAC, 2 hours EMEA, 4 hours US Time)
