Payroll Specialist II
About the role
The Payroll Specialist II will be responsible for processing payroll along with supporting the Payroll Management team in ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for working with Time and Attendance Coordinator to review employee hours for payroll uploads and works to help resolve inaccuracies
- Responsible for processing payroll for hourly and salary employees, reviewing for accuracy, facilitating appropriate corrections, and validating payroll for finalization and payment
- Reviews pay discrepancies and provides a resolve
- Processing and management of pay card payments and reconciliation
- Handles employee pay inquires in a timely manner
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Supports audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Works closely with Compensation, benefits, labor relations and field operations
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Work on special projects as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Five-Seven years of payroll experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to show discretion with confidential information
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with payroll software preferably, ADP and SAP.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position is performed in a standard office environment and is primarily sedentary in nature
Requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, including frequent use of a keyboard and mouse
Must be able to effectively communicate and exchange information in a professional office setting
Ability to view computer screens and review detailed data for extended periods with a high degree of accuracy
Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching may be required within the office
May occasionally lift and/or move items up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, documents, office supplies)
Work is performed in a climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions
Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, particularly during payroll cycles, quarter-end, and year-end processing
Regular and reliable attendance is required to meet operational needs
