About the role
The Payroll Specialist position is a major contributor to the organization, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of the weekly/biweekly employee payroll. This role maintains employee files, processes changes, fields questions, and communicates with all employees. It also supports key areas of the Human Resources department.
Responsibilities
- Maintain employee database
- Process employee payroll each week
- Generate payroll reporting
- Answer employee questions as they arise
- Manage garnishments, contributions, 401k, flex, and other payables
- Handle miscellaneous filing projects
- Support the development and maintenance of the HRIS module
- Perform miscellaneous administrative and clerical duties
- Handle high-pressure situations
- Complete certified payroll forms
- Establish and review prevailing wage rates and fringe metrics per project
- Reconcile prevailing wage data against ADP submissions and payroll register
- Other projects as needed
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or some post-secondary education
- 2–4 years of payroll experience with prevailing wage knowledge
- Union payroll experience
- Large-scale payroll experience preferred (1000+ employees)
- Proficiency with ADP payroll platform, specifically Time and Attendance and Workforce Now
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive attitude and professional behavior
- Previous HR experience a plus
