We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce in Seattle, Washington. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can manage full-cycle payroll with a high level of precision while working across union and non-union employee groups.
Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for more than 500 employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Administer payroll activities for both union and non-union populations, applying contract terms correctly to wages, deductions, and special pay rules.
- Review timekeeping, earnings, taxes, garnishments, and benefit deductions to identify and correct discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
- Use ADP Workforce Now and UKG Pro to maintain employee payroll data, support processing activities, and generate required records and reports.
- Prepare and validate union-related payroll reporting, including calculations tied to labor agreements and other contractual obligations.
- Investigate payroll issues raised by employees or internal partners and provide clear, timely resolution to support a positive employee experience.
- Reconcile payroll registers and supporting records, ensuring totals align with internal controls and financial reporting needs.
- Assist with payroll-related updates or system process changes when needed, including activities connected to platform or workflow transitions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle payroll in a high-volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, tax requirements, and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now for payroll administration and processing.
- Familiarity with UKG Pro and its use in payroll or timekeeping workflows.
- Background supporting payroll for employee populations exceeding 500 workers.
- Experience processing union payroll and interpreting union contract provisions as they relate to pay.
- Ability to prepare union reports accurately and work with detailed payroll documentation.
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive payroll information confidentially.
