Responsibilities
- Serves as a main point of contact for payroll & troubleshoots payroll-related issues impacting employees (non-payments, pay discrepancies, general questions, etc.) while exhibiting excellent customer service to the employee.
- Affords assistance in the preparation of payroll in Workday Payroll system for employees paid on weekly, biweekly and semi-monthly frequencies.
- Affords assistance with the semi-monthly Vancouver, Canada payroll submission to ADP.
- Enters and maintains On-Demand payroll records upon Management approval.
- Reconciles union dues deductions to records maintained by Accounting Dept. and various union liaisons.
- Maintains employment and pay compliance criteria for Federal College Work Study and other student employees.
- Provides ad hoc payroll reporting and other documentation to Finance, HR, and other authorized parties.
- Communicates with and reports to State, local and 3rd party agencies as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other related business major required.
- Minimum 2 years payroll, human resources or finance-related experience, preferably in higher education.
- Experience in providing quality customer service required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with Workday software is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of NYS Department of Labor laws and Federal/State payroll tax laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with others of all levels.
- Display high degree of professionalism, strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
