What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and process weekly payroll for 20-180 employees across districts we serve.
  • Manage and maintain payroll system ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Update payroll information, and handle employee inquiries regarding benefits and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to payroll and retirement reporting.
  • Process contract changes, deductions, garnishments, and more.
  • Prepare and distribute state and federal wage reports, including W-2’s.
  • Support year-end audit preparation and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party administrators for payroll liabilities and vendor payments.
  • Aid Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator in various tasks.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred, or minimum of 3 years’ relevant payroll-related experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll operations (payroll processing, payroll tax, retirement, insurance, employee benefits, addressing staff requests, etc.).
  • Strong accounting and/or payroll software experience and ability to handle payroll audits.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace with ability to create reports, documents and spreadsheets.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
