Payroll Specialist
About the Role
The Payroll Specialist will assist the Payroll Manager in processing weekly payroll and maintaining accurate time records.
Responsibilities
- Enter and reconcile time entries weekly
- Reconcile weekly regional payroll
- Research paycheck or direct deposit issues
- Record and process Certified Payrolls
- Track Apprenticeship certification documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred
- Experience with Vista payroll software preferred
Skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient with Excel, using VLOOKUP and Pivot tables
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
- Good communication skills
- Understanding of keeping employee records confidential
Work Environment
The role is primarily in an indoor office setting with controlled temperature, involving prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required. There is potential for visits to outdoor industrial sites with exposure to weather extremes, noise, dust, chemicals, or other environmental factors. Travel requirements are up to 10% of the time.
