Responsibilities
- Payroll Process semi-monthly and off-cycle payroll ensuring accurate pay calculations, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Review and audit timesheets prior to payroll processing
- Process wage garnishments, leviances, and other court-ordered deductions in compliance with applicable regulations
- Maintain and update employee payroll records including new hires, status changes, leaves of absence, and terminations
- Prepare final paychecks and termination payments
- Resolve payroll discrepancies including benefit deductions, tax withholding issues, and employee inquiries
- Maintain payroll documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and payroll regulations
- Generate recurring payroll reports for leadership and support payroll-related audits
Qualifications
- 5+ years of payroll experience
- 1+ year of Accounts Payable (AP) experience
- Experience processing payroll in a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of California state and federal payroll laws, garnishments, tax withholdings, and payroll compliance
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
