Payroll Specialist

About the Role

Join a high-performing team in ADP's Human Resources Outsourcing department that provides support and guidance in response to a wide variety of payroll and tax-related questions and issues presented by Client Payroll Administrators. You will utilize multiple tools and resources to develop accurate, comprehensive, and friendly responses to clients' inquiries regarding payroll practices and tax considerations.

Every day will bring different questions and solutions, keeping the role dynamic and engaging. You must be comfortable working in a metrics-driven call center environment as part of a structured day, building rapport and trust with clients through clear and professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Product Support: Respond to client questions regarding payroll and benefits products, providing application and product navigation support. Activities include:
  • Data maintenance, setup, and configuration changes (e.g., Vacation/Paid Time Off, Special Calculations, Time and Attendance schedules, 401k, etc.)
  • New feature setup requests (e.g., Group Term Life, Health Savings Account, direct deposit calculations, Benefit Accruals)
• Payroll Processing - Tax: Assist clients with payroll processing, resolve issues, and support tax changes. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting research and follow-up on tax-related inquiries
  • Providing timely communication for updates, changes, or client issues
  • Monitoring Tax Registration Services via reports to verify active jurisdictions
  • Using online tools to ensure accurate payroll and tax processing
• Consultation: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering consultative support and recommendations on product optimization during status calls and other interactions.
• Quarter and Year-End Support: Resolve issues in partnership with clients that surface in error prevention notices, determine corrections, and generate details on changes needed for processing additional payroll.
• Reporting and Analysis: Work on complex projects, including:
  • Calculation updates and special reports
  • Tax amendments and company setup
  • Troubleshooting and historical data research
  • Using online tools to make corrections
• Collaborate and Communicate:
  • Collaborate with internal teams (401k, Flexible Spending Accounts, Tax, etc.) and third-party vendors to resolve issues
  • Escalate issues when necessary and communicate status and resolution to clients
  • Share upcoming changes with clients that may impact them and address their concerns
  • Create and update standard client documentation

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant experience, OR
• Military experience (valued for discipline, commitment, and problem-solving abilities)

Occasional extended hours during peak seasons, with 5–10 hours of overtime for 6–8 weeks of the year.

Preferred Qualifications

• High-level payroll knowledge, including skills for processing client payrolls
• Basic knowledge of payroll tax principles and wage and hour laws
