Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle payroll (timecards, taxes, benefits, 403b, garnishments)
- Ensure compliance with CA/federal payroll laws
- Reconcile payroll, benefits, and retirement contributions
- Prepare payroll JE’s and support month-end close
- Afford assistance with audits, reporting, and accounting projects
- Act as main point of contact for payroll inquiries
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance or similar
- 5+ years accounting + 2–3+ years payroll
- Strong payroll compliance knowledge
- Paylocity strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll compliance, tax reporting, garnishments, employee benefit deductions, and payroll account reconciliations
- Experience preparing journal entries, supporting financial statement preparation, and reconciling payroll-related accounts within the general ledger
- Proficiency with payroll systems such as Paylocity, along with strong comfort using business and collaboration software
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees, leadership, auditors, and external vendors
