Responsibilities
- Manage and ensure accuracy for all payroll-related accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Review and approve payroll journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain general ledger integrity for all payroll-related accounts.
- Analyze payroll variances and investigate unusual fluctuations.
- Support SOX/internal control compliance related to payroll processes.
- Maintain documentation of payroll accounting controls and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, efficiency, and accuracy within payroll accounting processes.
- Assist with ERP and payroll system reconciliations.
- Lead and manage two senior payroll accountants.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll accounting matters.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Benefits, FP&A, Payroll Tax, Internal Audit, and operational leadership.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of accounting experience, including payroll accounting experience.
- Supervisory Experience: Some supervisory or lead experience required.
- Specialized Certifications: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
- Experience: Experience in large corporate or multi-state payroll environments preferred.
- ERP and Payroll Systems: Experience with ERP and payroll systems such as Oracle, UKG, and ADP preferred.
