Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Analyze transactional information on payroll reports generated from changes processed in the Payroll Management System (PMS) in the Payroll Information system (Pi).
- Approve pay generated from retroactive salary adjustments due to changes processed from collective bargaining agreements and audits.
- Process overpayment letters, communicate with employees regarding overpayments and underpayments.
- Respond to inquiries from employees via Service Tickets and Payroll Hotline.
- Ensure payments to employees are correct by reviewing appropriate payroll reports and required payroll systems.
- Analyze leave without pay details on report.
- Respond to inquiries from employees and internal bureaus e.g., Human Resources and Oversight Agencies concerning payroll issues and discrepancies.
- Compute one-time payment for unused leave balance to separated employees, and legal settlements.
Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing.
- A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
- In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
