Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Payroll Clerk will compute, classify, and record numerical data to maintain payroll and financial records. Duties include performing calculations, posting, and verifying duties, inputting data into the Work Force Management (WFM) payroll system, and communicating with the corporate payroll department. The role involves final approvals and reports, maintaining payroll files and records, complying with policies, operating computers with accounting software, classifying and summarizing numerical and financial data, checking vendor invoices, coding documents, accessing financial information, and performing various clerical tasks.

  • Input data into the Work Force Management (WFM) payroll system and transmit information to the corporate payroll department for each payroll cycle (weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, bonuses, special payrolls).
  • Perform final approvals and reports for payroll and communicate between the division and corporate.
  • Maintain payroll files and records, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records.
  • Check vendor invoice figures, postings, and documents for correctness, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Code vendor invoice documents according to company procedures.
  • Access computerized financial information to answer general and specific account-related questions.
  • Operate 10-key calculators, typewriters, and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
  • Verify vendor control groups for Accounts Payable.
  • Gather and process Accounts Payable mail and invoices.
  • Perform various AP and clerical duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

A minimum of an accounting or related associate’s degree or related payroll experience is preferred. Knowledge of and ability to competently use MS Office, internet, email, and office machines is required. Commitment to Ben E. Keith company principles and standards, knowledge of customer service principles, and ability to write reports, correspondence, and communications are necessary. Social perceptiveness, active listening skills, and the ability to adjust actions and style of communication are important. Prioritizing multiple projects, assignments, and tasks, monitoring time usage, and providing timely and quality responses are essential. A valid driver’s license is required for company business. Ability to meet critical deadlines and adjust working hours during company holidays to ensure payroll deadlines are met.
