About the Role

The Payroll and Accounting Specialist maintains payroll systems, processes paychecks, and supports general ledger accuracy through journal entries, account reconciliations, cash receipt processing, and expense report review. This role partners with HR to maintain employee records and assist with HR administration.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll timely and accurately on a semi-monthly basis for 100+ multi-state employees while adhering to company accounting procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and current employee records and settings in Deltek Costpoint and the payroll processor, including adjustments, new hires, and terminations.
  • Review timesheets for accuracy and process corrections.
  • Maintain employee paid time off accrual, validation, and tracking.
  • Handle reimbursement direct deposit requests and data.
  • Process employee expense reimbursements.
  • Prepare certified payroll reporting.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reconciliations of payroll accounts.
  • Run ad hoc reports to provide data as needed.
  • Support general accounting functions, including:
    • Processing and tracking daily cash receipts.
    • Performing bank reconciliations.
    • Performing general ledger account reconciliations for credit card and car rental expenses.
    • Supporting creation and maintenance of balance sheet schedules.
    • Supporting accounts payable vouchering and journal entries.
    • Assisting in the review of employee expense reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred.
  • Five years of experience processing payroll.
  • Two years of experience with Deltek Costpoint.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, with a heavy focus on Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, SUMIF, XLOOKUP, pivot tables).

Work Environment

  • Primarily work-from-home with minimal distractions, occasional need to commute to an office or meeting location.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
