About the Role

The Payroll Tax Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This role oversees payroll tax reporting, reconciliations, tax payments, compliance notices, and audit support while collaborating closely with payroll, accounting, and finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with changing payroll tax regulations.
  • Support payroll tax reporting throughout the payroll cycle.
  • Perform detailed analysis of payroll transactions affecting tax withholding and reporting.
  • Complete quarterly and year-end payroll tax reconciliations.
  • Identify and resolve payroll tax discrepancies and variances.
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll tax reporting and financial records.
  • Support ongoing payroll tax audit readiness.
  • Manage correspondence with Workday, ADP, and payroll service providers.
  • Respond to payroll tax notices issued by federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Collaborate with the General Ledger team to resolve tax variances.
  • Partner with payroll leadership to maintain compliant payroll processes.
  • Support internal and external payroll tax audits.
  • Communicate complex payroll tax information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Process improvement and documentation.
  • Develop, document, and maintain payroll tax processing procedures.
  • Review and improve payroll reconciliation workflows.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation for payroll operations.
  • Monitor legislative changes affecting payroll tax compliance.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within payroll operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of payroll and payroll tax experience.
  • At least three years of experience managing multi-state payroll tax.
  • Advanced expertise with Workday HRIS.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and accounting practices.
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Able to present technical information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information.
