About the role

The Payroll Analyst ensures compliant payroll processing for subsidiaries. This role involves executing complex payroll tasks, including payroll maintenance, timekeeping support, multi-jurisdictional tax management, and serving as the liaison between TINA and subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Process exempt and non-exempt payroll on-time and accurately for various frequencies and locations across the U.S., ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Enter all payroll maintenance into the ADP platform each pay period as provided by subsidiary companies.
  • Oversee the timekeeping process in conjunction with subsidiary procedures.
  • Review audit reports and verify payroll preview calculations to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, local laws, and company policy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll-processing issues using analytical skills.
  • Handle payroll inquiries from subsidiary HR personnel or associates.
  • Assist the accounting department with General Ledger inquiries or balancing issues.
  • Respond to tax notices in a timely manner.
  • Set up new tax jurisdictions as required.
  • Process off-cycle checks for special pay runs.
  • Administer and manage employee garnishments using ADP Full Garnishment Services, ensuring accurate setup, processing, and compliance with regulations.
  • Complete daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting as required.
  • Exercise discretion in situations not explicitly covered by policy while ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
  • Participate in short-term and long-term company planning, providing recommendations for strategic HR items in the Hoshin process.
  • Support merger and acquisition activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related business field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
  • Experience with an HRIS system (ADP Lyric is the current system of record); ability to learn and utilize this system effectively is critical.
  • 5–10 years of previous payroll processing experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to proactively identify problems, solve issues, and update processes as needed.
  • Initiative to take on new projects, learn new systems, and stay updated on changing regulations.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (emphasis on Excel—formulas, charting, pivot tables).
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and practices.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and make sound decisions quickly while interpreting company policies.

Schedule

Hybrid schedule: collaborate in-person at the Columbus, IN office and work remotely on Thursdays and Fridays.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand throughout the workday as needed to perform essential functions.
  • May require walking on level surfaces for periodic periods.
  • Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be required for filing or handling documents.
  • Ability to concentrate, read, and comprehend complex data.
  • Frequent handling of documents and use of computer and telephone.
  • Primary work environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment.

Travel

Travel within North America may be required up to 10%, or as needed. A valid driver’s license and safe driving ability are required.
