Payroll Administrator II
Duties
- Maintain and process payroll records
- Manage employee payroll changes
- Support payroll tax reporting and state tax administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations
- Prepare and submit state tax filings and quarterly tax reports
- Maintain and reconcile payroll records, reports, and supporting documentation
- Develop, compile, and analyze payroll- and HR-related reports, summaries, and data logs
- Provide payroll-related technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance
- Monitor payroll technology, data management, and security practices
- Collaborate with Human Resources team members on daily departmental operations and special projects

How success is defined
- Administer payroll operations by processing payroll accurately and timely
- Ensure compliance with established schedules, organizational policies, and applicable government regulations
- Manage employee payroll transactions by processing new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and other payroll updates while maintaining data accuracy and integrity
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, tax, wage, and hour regulations by monitoring requirements, applying best practices, and maintaining accurate payroll records
- Prepare and submit state tax filings and quarterly tax reports while maintaining tax records and ensuring timely reporting and payment obligations are met
- Maintain and reconcile payroll records, reports, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate payroll reporting, audit readiness, and record retention compliance
- Support internal and external audits by compiling, reviewing, and providing payroll records, reports, and required documentation to auditors and regulatory agencies
- Monitor payroll technology, data management, and security practices by maintaining current knowledge of industry trends, system enhancements, and regulatory developments to support continuous process improvement
- Collaborate with Human Resources team members on daily departmental operations and special projects
- Mentor and provide guidance to Payroll Administrator I team members
- Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements and lead or support implementation of enhanced procedures, tools, and controls
- Works effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- 2-4 years of experience processing multi-state payroll in a fast-paced environment
- Extensive knowledge of payroll administration, including payroll processing, balancing, internal controls, payroll taxes, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate-level Excel skills; experience with HRIS systems required, with Dayforce experience preferred
- Experience generating and analyzing reports; familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting tools preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, fostering cooperation and achieving results through strong working relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact through multiple channels, including email, phone, and chat, while maintaining professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends, early mornings, and late evenings, as business needs require
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in resolving complex payroll matters with minimal supervision
Compensation Range
- $27 - $31 per hour
