About the role

The Payroll Administration Business Partner is responsible for the end-to-end payroll lifecycle, ensuring accurate and compliant execution for a multi-state workforce of over 1,000 employees. In this hands-on, individual contributor role, you will collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and external vendors to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance and timely financial reporting. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in payroll processing, who demonstrates full accountability for the function.

Responsibilities

  • Execute full cycle, multi-state weekly payroll for domestic employees and monthly payroll for international employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular pre- and post-payroll audits to identify and resolve discrepancies related to earnings, deductions, hours and tax calculations.
  • Apply federal, state, and local payroll regulations consistently across each payroll cycle, including multi-state taxation requirements.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, and external vendors to ensure accurate employee data, payroll processing, and financial reconciliation.
  • Serve as the business owner and subject matter expert for the UKG Ready, UKG Dimensions HCM or UKG Pro Workforce Management Timekeeping.
  • Maintain the UKG Pro Workforce Management timekeeping system, including managing supervisor and organizational structure updates.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and HRIS Team to ensure the accuracy of employee data and benefit file integrations, including auditing data transfers and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Obtains payroll reports to deliver data-driven labor cost insights to department heads for budget management, while ensuring accurate documentation is maintained to fully support internal and external audits.
  • Analyze process and recommend improvements to payroll processes, internal controls, and system workflows and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality team member support.
  • Lead quarterly and annual payroll activities, including quarter close, year-end processing, W-2 preparation, and other activities as applicable.
  • Resolve employee and manager concerns regarding salary and wage payments, taxation, garnishments, and other deductions in a timely and professional manner, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain consistent documentation and internal controls for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and audit-readiness.
  • Processes monthly and quarterly sales commissions and incentives. Track and calculate employee commission payments and accruals.
  • Responsible for employment verifications, unemployment claims, garnishments, and child support, responses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR or Business Administration required
  • Minimum of 5 years of functional payroll experience in high volume weekly, multi-state, full cycle payroll for 1,000+ employees, required
  • Processing experience with payroll platforms UKG Ready, UKG Dimensions HCM or UKG Pro Workforce Management Timekeeping, required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and full understanding of end-to-end payroll business process including employee data set-up, payroll processing, gross to net calculations, garnishments, fringe benefits, payroll reporting, and federal and state tax processing
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of state and federal labor laws and tax reporting requirements, required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and G-Suite, required
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to work through root cause analysis in payroll and system issues
  • Detailed oriented and able to handle multiple activities, independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while working under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members at all levels
  • Demonstrated proficiency with systems and ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS, Timekeeping and Payroll systems
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills required
