Responsibilities

  • Manage recurring and non-routine payroll cycles for salaried, hourly, incentive, and commission-based employees while meeting all processing deadlines.
  • Review time entries, personnel changes, benefit deductions, leave activity, and retroactive updates to ensure payroll information is complete and accurate before each cycle is finalized.
  • Reconcile payroll results against supporting reports, manual payments, banking activity, treasury records, and general ledger data to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll records related to earnings, taxes, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and timekeeping, ensuring documentation is current and audit-ready.
  • Process manual and off-cycle payments as needed, including adjustments that require special handling outside the standard payroll schedule.
  • Monitor payroll-related workflows in Workday, oversee time and absence entries, and upload files such as commissions and payroll inputs into designated systems.
  • Administer wage attachments including garnishments, levies, and child support orders in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to address payroll questions, support reconciliations, respond to employee inquiries, and assist with audits and year-end activities such as W-2 processing and tax notice resolution.

Requirements

  • Experience handling full-cycle payroll with responsibility for accurate and timely processing across multiple payroll scenarios.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and payroll compliance requirements involving federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Background supporting payroll for mid-sized to large employee groups, including environments with several hundred employees or more.
  • Hands-on familiarity with payroll and HRIS platforms such as Workday, ADP Workforce Now, UKG Ready, or UKG Pro.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a high level of accuracy when managing detailed payroll data and reconciliations.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-moving environment with strict processing timelines.
  • Detail-oriented written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive employee matters confidentially.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in payroll administration, preferably in a corporate setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, COBRA, and other relevant statutes.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and software, specifically Workday, ADP Workforce Now, UKG Ready, or UKG Pro.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, and external vendors.
